Basic procedures must be followed
The London P&I Club reported that its ship inspection programme had revealed a frequent failure to observe basic onboard procedures,
with potentially costly consequences for owners and operators. The Club said: “With increased commercial pressure on the master
of a ship, some simple and potentially ‘old-school’ habits often fall by the wayside. For instance, we consider that one of
the most useful tools for maintaining a quality operation and safe working environment is the weekly captain’s rounds.”
