Attica Founder dies
Pericles Panagopulos, the founder of Greek ferry group Attica, has died at the age of 83. Pericles, who has died in Athens
after a long illness, had few equals as a shipping entrepreneur who innovated in cruising and ferries as well as being successful
in the dry bulk sector. As pragmatic as he was visionary, he will also be remembered for two prescient company sell-offs and
for emerging with characteristic dignity from an eight-day kidnapping drama a decade ago.
