MARSH AND GUY CARPENTER REPORT ORGANIC GROWTH DESPITE MACRO HEADWINDS
Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC) reported strong underlying growth in the fourth quarter across its Marsh and Guy Carpenter
businesses. A mixed performance in key markets drove 6% growth in underlying revenues across Marsh, to reach $1.8bn. Guy Carpenter’s
fourth-quarter revenue was $102m, up 5% on an underlying basis. Marsh’s US and Canadian operations saw underlying revenue
growth increase 7%. However, a weak performance in the UK – which the company said continues to face significant macroeconomic
headwinds – and the Middle East contributed to the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region seeing only a 3% bump in underlying
revenue growth. The Asia-Pacific region and the Latin American region both saw 8% underlying revenue growth.
