Proposed training reforms for costs lawyers “will lower standards”

The Association of Costs Lawyers (ACL) has warned that the Costs Lawyer Standards Board’s (CLSB) proposed training reforms will lower the standards expected of costs lawyers at the point of qualification. The ACL said it would not support the replacement of the current qualification regime with the CLSB’s planned Costs Lawyer Competence Assessment (CLCA).
