Shipping's biggest challenge is a shift in mindset, not fuel

To the outside world shipping looks like an industry unprepared for the 2020 sulphur cap. The truth is, owners are more prepared than they are being given credit for, but the wider questions of shipping's ability make a clean fuel transition have not yet been answered, writes Lloyd's List's Richard Meade

Two years ago the shipping’s biennial bunker bash, Sibcon, was dominated by nervous deliberations over whether the industry would be ready for the 2020 deadline to reduce sulphur emissions. To scrub, or not to scrub? That was the question.
