Winner named
The prestigious International Maritime Prize for 2017 is to be awarded to Birgit Sølling Olsen, former deputy director-general
of the Danish Maritime Authority. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council voted to award the Prize to Sølling
Olsen in recognition of her invaluable contribution to the work and objectives of IMO and to the international maritime community
as a whole. Sølling Olsen was nominated by Denmark as well as the International Chamber of Shipping and the International
Group of P&I Clubs. In the nomination, her distinguished career in the maritime field and her significant contribution to
the objectives of IMO was addressed. Her comprehensive knowledge of maritime law, combined with an understanding of the business
aspects and growth potential of the maritime industry, is recognised by this award.
