TWO MORE CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES THREATEN 12,200 STRUCTURES
Two more wildfires that broke out in northern California at the weekend have doubled in size and now threaten around 12,200
homes and other structures. The River and Ranch fires, together known as the Mendocino complex, are tearing through territory
near the region of last year’s wildfires 100 miles north of San Francisco. They have already destroyed 10 homes and outbuildings
and charred more than 74,00 acres. Some 10,000 residents are under evacuation orders. Meanwhile, the Carr fire 100 miles to
the north has spread to 110,000 acres and continues to threaten 2,546 homes. The Carr fire has destroyed 884 homes and damaged
another 169. Firefighters have made progress on the blaze, enabling 10,000 of a total of 37,000 evacuees to return home. Twenty
people remain unaccounted for.
