Successful claim by musician
It has been known for some time that working in places where very loud music is played can result in hearing problems. In
the case outlined here, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden was held to be liable to a viola player after he suffered acoustic
shock as a result of high noise levels during a rehearsal. The opera house was found to have been in breach of its duties
under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 (SI 2005 No 1643).
