Medical Negligence


Government urged to take urgent action on medical negligence claims


Urgent action is required to reduce the spiralling cost of medical negligence claims in England, according to a coalition of organisations representing the NHS and health professionals. In a letter to David Gauke, the new Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, the organisations urged him to bring forward important reforms in the handling of clinical negligence claims. They pointed out that £1.7 billion was paid out last year alone, following the change to the discount rate.
