Public Accounts Committee warning over costs of clinical negligence

A report by the Public Accounts Committee has said the government must end complacency over the cost of clinical negligence for hospital trusts, which it said has quadrupled over the last decade, from £0.4 billion in 2006/2007 to £1.6 billion in 2016/2017. The committee said bold action was required to address the impact of claims on resources available for frontline care and patients.
