Tinsley v Manchester City Council [2017] EWCA Civ 1704

The Court of Appeal has held that a person injured in a car accident who had been released from compulsorily detention under the Mental Health Act 1983 s3 but still needed “after-care services” was entitled to require that his local authority provide such services under s117 at any time before he had exhausted sums reflecting the costs of care awarded to him in a judgment against a negligent tortfeasor.
