Digital advancements must progress into payments

While cyber crime is a threat to business, technology can be an enabling force. Stuart Ostrow, of ShipMoney, argues it is time for the shipping industry to join the modern world when it deals with financial issues

In 2017 we have seen the advancements of high throughput satellite (HTS) making waves in the industry to deliver faster and more efficient broadband services. Big Data and digitilisation have continued to be buzz words throughout the year. The majority of shipping companies are making good progress in streamlining their operations with cost efficiencies and I believe this will remain the main driver for companies going towards 2018. Financial pressures have remained consistent throughout the year and companies are now, more than ever, likely to embrace change if it gives them one or two extra dollars in their pockets.
