TALANX LEADS OFFSHORE WIND FARM INVESTMENT

German insurance and reinsurance group Talanx is leading an €832m investment in a German offshore wind farm. Known as Borkum Riffgrund 2, the project will see the construction of 56 wind turbines by 2019. Talanx is acting as lead manager to a group of institutional investors, including other European insurers, to coordinate the financing of a ten-year bond. The debt issuance is part of a €1.17bn deal that will see Global Infrastructure Partners acquire a 50% stake in the wind farm, which is currently owned by Danish energy firm Ørsted. Overall, we consider €5bn of investments in infrastructure achievable.”
