BLENHEIM LAUNCHES NEW CLASSES FOR SECOND UNDERWRITING YEAR
Blenheim Syndicate 5886 has added two new classes of business for its second underwriting year, with its business plan having
received approval from Lloyd’s. The syndicate will now write accident and health and specialty reinsurance, in addition to
its existing classes. Syndicate 5886, which commenced underwriting at the start of 2017, was launched by Cathedral’s former
chief executive Peter Scales and its former chief financial officer John Lynch. John Hamblin, the former active underwriter
of Cathedral syndicates 2010 and 3010, subsequently joined Blenheim in February and serves as Syndicate 5886’s active underwriter.
Hamblin said the syndicate views the new divisions as “key classes in our long-term business plan”. Nick Faux has been appointed
to develop the accident and health portfolio, joining from Munich Re, while Stephanie Hunt has joined the specialty reinsurance
division from Tamesis Dual Ltd.
