AFL ADDS GORDON AS DIRECTOR OF SURETY
Lloyd’s broker AFL has appointed Nathalie Gordon as director of surety. Gordon will be responsible for developing the broker’s
surety practice, and will be based out of Munich and London. She most recently served as a credit and bond underwriter at
Munich Re, overseeing a Latin American portfolio of surety, credit and political risk. Prior to this, Gordon worked at Atradius
Re in Ireland and Coface in Spain. AFL’s chief executive, Bob Finch, said: “Due to the current reluctance of banks to tie
up capital in bonds, we are seeing a steady trend globally for surety products to migrate to insurers.” Former Cooper Gay
chief executive Toby Esser acquired a majority stake in AFL in September and is now executive chairman, and plans to double
the size of the broker in the next couple of years.
