IMO clarifies Ballast Water Convention coming into force this month


The International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) has clarified the ballast water management schedule, progressed grreenhouse gas (GHG) and air pollution issues, adopted new NOx emission control areas, designated a further particularly sensitive sea area and agreed to work on implementation of the 0.50 per cent global sulphur limit, all at its last meeting in London recently.
