This was an appeal by E and another against a decision dismissing their claims for damages for personal injury sustained in
the course of an incident at a nightclub owned and managed by the respondent company, C. E and a colleague were injured in
a knife attack perpetrated by G, another guest, who was subsequently convicted of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily
harm, and was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was not sued, but the appellants sued the company which manages the night
club, alleging that it had failed to take appropriate steps to protect its guests.
