Nature of duty to undertake risk assessments

Uren v Corporate Leisure (UK) Ltd and another [2011] EWCA Civ 66

This was an appeal by U against a decision dismissing his personal injury claim. The second respondent employer (the “MoD”) cross-appealed. U had been a senior aircraftman in the RAF. He had participated in a health and fun day at the RAF base where he was stationed, in a team relay race which involved retrieving objects from an inflatable pool which had been installed on a grass playing field and filled with water to around 18 inches.
