Judicial review – Claim for salvage in respect of wreck – Receiver of Wreck refusing to make salvage award – Whether “salvage operations” cannot be considered finished until everything raised from sea bed – Whether salvage claim time-barred

The claimant had been diving on wrecks off the English coast for some 30 years. He recovered various items, including eight bronze cannon, said to be worth between £96,000 and £1.2 million, thought to be from an East India company vessel about 200 years old; and also tin ingots from other vessels, thought to be worth around £110,000.
