DRONE TEMPORARILY CLOSES RUNWAY AT GATWICK

A drone overflying Gatwick airport on Sunday led to the closure of the airport’s runway, diverting a number of flights. The runway was closed for two periods of nine minutes and five minutes on Sunday evening after the drone was spotted close to Gatwick. Easy Jet was forced to divert four flights and British Airways one flight, while other flights were made to circle the airport.
