School compensation payouts doubled in the period 2014 to 2016


The BBC has obtained figures that show that compensation paid out by schools has doubled from 2014 to 2016, although the figures are skewed by a single payout of £1.9 million in 2016 following a near drowning of an Essex child. The total sum paid out by schools was £7.25 million over the three years.
