Admiralty - Collision – Collision Regulations – Whether narrow channel rule or crossing rule applicable - Apportionment of fault – Colregs rules 5, 7, 9 and 15

The VLCC Alexandra 1 was inbound to Jebel Ali approaching a narrow channel when she collided with the outbound container ship Ever Smart. Ever Smart was at the time navigating within a narrow channel, and Alexandra 1 was approaching the entrance to the channel with a view to embarking a pilot and then entering the channel. Alexandra 1 suffered damage in the amount of US$32 million and Ever Smart suffered damage in the amount of US$4 million.
