Call for global programme for eliminating carcinogens in workplace

A world expert on work-related cancer has called for the establishment of a global programme for eliminating carcinogens in the workplace. Dr Jukka Takala, speaking at a European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) forum, said that cancer is the primary cause of death in the workplace and noted that policies introduced for preventing cancer pathologies together with information and awareness-raising campaigns very rarely take account of the work dimension.
