Maternity Care improvements include proposals for no-fault compensation for birth injuries

On 17 October 2016, the Department of Health in England published a strategic document aimed at improving the safety of maternity care in the NHS. The action plan contains measures which it is hoped will improve standards of care and safety in maternity units, with the help of £8 million for further staff training and £250,000 for piloting ideas for improving maternity care, together with a quality improvement programme for all maternity units and a maternity ratings system for clinical commissioning groups.
