Ministry of Justice surprises industry with whiplash reforms

After rumours in October that the Justice Secretary would not proceed with whiplash reforms just yet, the Ministry of Justice surprises everyone with its announcement on 17 November 2016 that it would push through radical reforms for personal injury claims in order to crack down on a “rampant compensation culture”. The Ministry of Justice is of the view that a “predatory claims industry […] encourages minor, exaggerated and fraudulent claims, driving up the costs of insurance premiums for ordinary motorists”.
