“Detrimental” cargo carriage judgment overturned in appeal court

North P&I Club has helped restore the commercial balance between shipowners and cargo interests by successfully supporting a member in its appeal against an English High Court decision. The UK Court of Appeal overturned the 5 March 2015 decision in Volcafe Ltd v Compania Sud Americana de Vapores SA (CSAV) [2016] EWCA Civ 1103, which has been viewed by the shipping community as widely detrimental to shipowners.
