Warning on nickel ore trade

Peter Modev, senior loss prevention executive at UK P&I Club and the Club’s local correspondent (Pandiman Philippines), has issued a warning on the risks in transporting nickel ore from the south of the Philippines. He said: “It is difficult for foreign experts to travel to the area. There are numerous terrorist groups operating in the area, with bombings and kidnappings and the death of one Canadian mine manager, while Philippine military forces are at war with several factions. The UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office advises against all travel to south-west Mindanao and the Sulu archipelago, as well as the remainder of Mindanao.”
