Funding of sugar-sweetened beverages and obesity studies


A recent study has found that industry-funded studies report no association between sugar-sweetened beverages and obesity, whereas non-industry-funded studies do find associations. The study, “Do Sugar-Sweetened Beverages Cause Obesity and Diabetes? Industry and the Manufacture of Scientific Controversy” by Dean Schillinger, Professor of Medicine in Residence at the University of California San Francisco, was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
