TRANSRE NAMES XIE HEAD OF NORTH ASIA OPERATIONS

The TransRe unit of US insurer and reinsurer Alleghany has named Zheqiang Xie to the newly created post of head of its north Asia operating region to oversee its Hong Kong branch office and Shanghai representative office and be responsible for strategic planning and business development. Xie will also become a member of TransRe’s Asia/Pacific senior management team. He joins from XL Insurance (China) in Shanghai, where he most recently served as chief executive. Prior to XL, Xie served with PICC, ChinaRe and Lloyd’s. “China is a strategically significant growth market for us, and Zheqiang’s extensive market experience and first-hand understanding of the regulatory environment and regional client issues make him an ideal choice to help us expand our business in Asia,” said Paul Bonny, TransRe’s president of international operations.
