Pilotage check-list for tankers. According to the revised law on “General Ordinance on Pilotage” dated Dec. 22, 1978, effective from Apr. 1, 1979, pilots boarding a tanker must, before they start piloting, ascertain that all information required as per the standard check-list is duly completed. This regulation applies to all inward-bound tankers entering the territorial waters of the Federal Republic of Germany. Non-compliance with this regulation may cause delays to the vessel. The standard checklists are obtainable through the shipping agencies.
ITALY
International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage. The Secretary-General of the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organization has the honour to refer to the International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage, done at Brussels on Nov. 29, 1969, and to state that an Instrument of Ratification by the Government of the Italian Republic was deposited with the Organization on Feb. 27, 1979, in accordance with art. XIII.
International Convention Relating to Intervention on the High Seas in Cases of Oil Pollution Casualties. The Secretary-General of the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organization has the honour to refer to the International Convention Relating to Intervention on the High Seas in Cases of Oil Pollution Casualties, done at Brussels on Nov. 29, 1969, and to state that an Instrument of Ratification by the Government of the Italian Republic was deposited with the Organization on Feb. 27, 1979, in accordance with art. IX of the Convention. In accordance with art. XI, the Convention entered into force for the Government of Italy on May 28, 1979, 90 days after the deposit of the instrument.
International Convention on the Establishment of an International Fund for Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage, 1971. The Secretary-General of the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organization has the honour to refer to the International Convention on the Establishment of an International Fund for Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage, done at Brussels on Dec. 18, 1971, and to state that an Instrument of Accession to the Convention was deposited by the Government of the Italian Republic on Feb. 27, 1979. The Convention entered into force for the Government of Italy on May 28, 1979, in accordance with the provisions of art. 40 of the Convention.

International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage. Communication from the Government of Japan. The Secretary-General of the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organization has received the following communication dated Mar. 9, 1979, from the Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., Embassy of Japan, London, regarding CLC/Circ. 42 of Mar. 13, 1978:
