MARKEL NAMES WHITT AND GAYNER AS DIRECTORS

US specialty insurer Markel said Wednesday that co-chief executives Richard Whitt and Thomas Gayner have been elected to the Virginia-based group’s board of directors. “The board welcomes Tom and Richie to the board of directors,” said Markel chairman Alan Kirshner. “The corporation will benefit greatly from their participation on the board as members bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and experience as well as strategic insight and foresight into opportunities that lie ahead.” In another move, Markel president Michael Crowley has been named vice-chairman.
