MARKEL LAUNCHES LLOYD’S LIVESTOCK CONSORTIUM
Markel International has launched a livestock consortium at Lloyd's, offering cover of up to $30m per location for livestock
risks. Supporting members of the consortium include Tokio Marine Kiln, Pembroke and Aegis London. Markel International said
the consortium offered larger single-risk capacity than was usually available in the market. This reflected the growing scale
and value of farms and their livestock internationally, as well as the increasing incidence of pandemic risks, such as avian
flu and foot and mouth disease, it said. Robert Wells, senior underwriter for global livestock at Markel International, said:
“The market needed single-source capacity to deal with these larger risks and to meet the needs of brokers, who have been
successfully developing demand for such policies.”
