Commissioner criticises over-regulation of US markets

SEC Commissioner Daniel Gallagher told a conference that the Dodd-Frank Act had strangled the US economy, increased the fragility of the financial system and politicised independent financial regulators. He argued that new regulatory oversight bodies had diminished the effectiveness of the SEC and opened the door to lobbying by special interests.
