EUROPEAN SUMS INSURED RISE, SAYS PERILS

Releasing its latest Industry Exposure Database, catastrophe insurance data company PERILS has reported that overall windstorm sums insured increased by 4.5%. Compared with 2015, windstorm sums insured increased 2.8% at constant exchange rates. The database consists of more than 40,000 individual data entries defining the natural perils exposed sums insured per CRESTA zone, property line of business and coverage type. The biggest exposure in the PERILS database is a European Windstorm with some €54trn of insured property values contained within the database.
