Mitsui OSK Lines announced the Soma Maru, the coal carrier which serves Tohoku Electric Power Co, was named the “Bulk Ship of the Year” at the IBJ Awards 2014 held in Rotterdam recently. Meanwhile Mitsui announced its group seafarer manning company Magsaysay MOL Marine held a long-service awards presentation ceremony for Filipino seafarers in Manila, and hosted a gathering for seafarers’ families the following day. Awards and recognition went to seafarers with 20 years of service aboard MOL-operated vessels and 265 people, including award recipients and their families, were on hand for the ceremony.
