HURRICANE VANCE DEVELOPS IN EASTERN PACIFIC
Hurricane Vance has developed in the eastern Pacific and is expected to hit the Mexican coast and the resort of Cabo San Lucas as a tropical storm or depression around mid-week. While no storm watches or warnings have yet been issued, the US National Hurricane Centre said that Mexico’s southwestern coast and Baja California peninsula would see dangerous surf conditions by Tuesday. Late Sunday, Vance was centred 505 miles south of Manzanillo, moving northwest at 17 mph with sustained winds of 105 mph. Forecasters expect Vance to strengthen on Monday, possibly into a major hurricane, as it turns to the north before weakening on Tuesday, with a turn to the northeast.
