SCOR FACING BILL OF UP TO 95M FOR RECENT AVIATION LOSSES
Scor has estimated a combined pre-tax impact of $25m to $35m for the series of recent aviation losses. The French reinsurer said the pre-tax loss estimate included its likely bill from the two Malaysian airline losses, the Tripoli airport loss and the Air Algerie crash. The reinsurer’s costliest catastrophe of the second quarter was European storm Ela, which cost Scor around E45m. Scor revealed yesterday its first half net profit rose 35% to E256m, driven by improvements to its life business and a reduced natural catastrophe burden in its non-life business.
