The claimant brought the present proceedings to enforce against the defendant an arbitration award of some £12.6 million made by a tribunal under the rules of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC). The dispute arose out of a contract under which the claimant had been appointed to execute and complete the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of an electrical system at a racecourse in Dubai. The claim was for unpaid instalments of sums due to the claimant. The defendant did not participate in the arbitration. The defendant's objections to enforcement were all rejected.
