The claimant brought the present proceedings to enforce
against the defendant an arbitration award of some £12.6 million made by a
tribunal under the rules of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC).
The dispute arose out of a contract under which the claimant had been appointed
to execute and complete the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of
an electrical system at a racecourse in Dubai. The claim was for unpaid
instalments of sums due to the claimant. The defendant did not participate in
the arbitration. The defendant's objections to enforcement were all rejected.
