New York State Supreme Court Judge… Barbara Kapnick has approved most of an $8.5bn settlement between Bank of America and a group of investors, including AIG, over soured mortgage-backed securities. AIG and others opposed the settlement on the grounds that it was unfair and that trustee Bank of New York Mellon failed to fulfill its fiduciary duty. AIG plans to appeal.
