ATRIUM REPORTS SOLID START TO YEAR
Lloyd’s vehicle Atrium Underwriting has reported what chairman James Joll described on Friday as “a solid start to 2007”. Speaking
at the company’s annual general meeting on Friday, he said that market conditions continued to offer the prospect of attractive
underwriting returns, “if somewhat reduced from those targeted during the peak conditions of previous years”. Mr Joll noted
that 2007 income would be “slightly below” the original plans for both syndicates, while premium income plans for 2008 “show
further modest reductions” from those in 2007. The company said that it expected to announce the name of its new finance director
before Atrium’s interim figures are released in September. Group finance director Simon Curtis will now be leaving at the
end of September, allowing him to make Atrium’s half-yearly figures announcement.
