SFO general counsel affirms line on bribery

There is “no change and no watering down of the law or the guidance” around bribery, Alun Milford, general counsel at the Serious Fraud Office told the World Bribery & Corruption Compliance Forum in London on 15 October. SFO Director David Green had, he said, restated the role of the agency as a prosecutor to correct any misconception that it was “somehow a regulator or an educator or an adviser” and preferred “risk-free settlements in civil recovery cases”.
