ISRAEL INSURANCE COMMISSIONER BLOCKS POLYGRAPH REQUIREMENTS
Policyholders in Israel cannot be made to undertake polygraph tests by insurance companies, even if they have signed a rider when they took out their policies, the Israeli Insurance Commissioner has ruled. Yadin Antebi has circulated a draft directive that effectively bans polygraph testing as a condition for payouts. In addition, future policies may not contain riders insisting that insurers have the right to make claimants undertake a lie detector test Any such agreements would have to be separate, and a claimant could only be made to undertake such a test if the insurer had other valid reasons for suspecting a claim, the regulator has ruled.
