Piracy warning

Masters and crew have been warned to remain vigilant in the vicinity of Pulau Nipah, Indonesia after another tanker was attacked by robbers. Seven incidents have been reported in the vicinity between January-September 2013. All seven incidents involved tankers at anchor. ReCAAP ISC has urged all ship masters and crew to exercise vigilance and report all incidents to the coastal state and flag state immediately. Marshall Islands-registered tanker Armada Ali was conducting STS operations with another vessel at Nipah anchorage when three robbers armed with knives and metal rods boarded the tanker. The crew confronted the robbers who fled empty-handed.
