Under
a contract of reinsurance governed by English law and subject to an exclusive
English jurisdiction clause, the claimants were the reinsurers of the defendant
insurance company in respect of an original policy of insurance under which the
defendant (Oriental) agreed to indemnify Sulpicio Lines Inc, a Philippine
shipping company, in respect of its liability in the period 31 December 2007 to
31 December 2008 for loss of or damage to cargo.
