Q-RE ANNOUNCES NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM
Qatar-based and Qatar-backed reinsurance start-up Q-Re has revealed its management line-up. Willi Schuerch, who arrived with
CEO Gunther Saacke from Zurich-based Novae Re and who is Mr Saacke's deputy at Q-Re, has been named as Chief Underwriting
Officer. Mark Cockroft, who, like Mr Saacke, had worked at Endurance, has been named Chief Actuary. Peter Frei, previously
with Winterthur Re and PartnerRe, has been named head of underwriting risk. Peter Bitterlin has been appointed Head of Energy.
He was most recently head of the Global Energy team at XL Insurance, having previously been with Baloise, Rhine Re, Winterthur
Re and Partner Re in a career spanning 25 years. Alan Chiolero, previously of Swiss Re, PartnerRe and Converium, has been
named Head of Property Catastrophe. Patrick Cove will be Branch Manager, Zurich, and Head of Aviation and Marine. Since moving
from insurance to reinsurance in 2001 he has been at GAUM and, since 2009, at XL Re. Manfred Dennler will be head of Property
Risk, brings 30 years of experience, having started his career at Union Re, moving on to Helvetia and then in 2009 to the
Lloyd's market. Johannes Goebel will be Head of Engineering, Stefan Lorenzini head of Credit & Surety, Luke Roden will be
Underwriting Manager for North America and Branch Manager, Bermuda. Karl Schneider will be Head of Agriculture, while Alan
Tomlinson will be Head of the London Representative Office. Rob Lee Womack will also be Underwriting Manager for North America.
Q-Re is backed by an unconditional parental guarantee from Qatar insurance Co, which is capitalized at $1.3bn, as well as
a direct quota share agreement.
