£44,000 settlement for loss of middle finger

A woman who severed the end of her middle finger in an accident at work has received more than £44,000 in an out of court settlement. The woman, a frozen-food factory worker, was helping a colleague fix a blocked packaging machine. She mistakenly assumed the power had already been switched off, and lost her middle finger just above the knuckle.
