£62,000 settlement for unintended termination of pregnancy

A woman who suffered the unintended termination of pregnancy during a hysterectomy, has been awarded a £62,000 settlement. She was admitted to the hospital for a hysterectomy operation. It was noted by the consultant performing surgery that her uterus was abnormally large, however he continued with the procedure. Following removal her cervix, he became concerned about the possibility of a pregnancy and, upon opening the uterine cavity, discovered a 14 week old fetus.
