General insurers’ redress remains flat as bankers’ pay out £5bn

General insurers paid out slightly less than £19.5m ($31.6m) in redress for complaints in the first six months of this year, a fraction of the almost £145m paid out by the general insurance intermediary sector, according to the latest figures compiled by the Financial Services Authority, writes Richard Banks.
