Arbitration - Stay of court proceedings in favour of arbitration - Court's inherent jurisdiction

In this construction dispute, the only issue for decision was whether the circumstances of the case justified the court exercising its inherent jurisdiction pursuant to the Rules of Court (rather than any powers under arbitration legislation) to stay proceedings between the plaintiff and the defendant until the intended (not yet commenced) arbitration between the plaintiff and another party was resolved.
