Background – Peter Ellis was the successor in title to Dr. Hine, who had been the owner of Chenies House Cottage for many years. Planning permission was granted for the cottage in 1961, subject to an agricultural occupancy condition in the usual terms, limiting its occupation to “persons employed or last employed locally in agriculture”.
